A Custom Variation of the Linked Crochet Stitch, with video tutorial
In this project, I use a variation of the linked crochet stitch, which I refer to as a linked triple.
This stitch is based on the structure of a linked double crochet, but it is worked slightly differently to create a smoother fabric and improved stitch definition.
Once introduced, the stitch is referred to as linked triple throughout the tutorial for clarity and consistency.
Linked Triple Crochet (lttr) – Stitch Instructions
How to Work the Linked Triple Stitch
- Yarn over (yo) and pull up a loop in each of the two horizontal bars of the previous linked triple stitch
(3 loops on the hook). - Insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop.
- Yarn over and pull through two loops on the hook, three times.
The stitch is now complete.
Beginning a Row with the Linked Triple
At the beginning of the row:
- Chain 2, then turn your work as usual.
- Yarn over and pull up a loop in the second chain from the hook.
- Insert the hook into the next stitch (the first stitch you would normally work into after chaining and turning), yarn over, and pull up a loop.
- Complete the stitch by yarning over and pulling through two loops on the hook three times.
Continue across the row using the linked triple crochet stitch.
Notes on the Stitch
- This stitch creates a dense but smooth fabric with minimal gaps.
- The linking technique reduces spaces between stitches compared to standard tall stitches.
- The linked triple is well suited for garments where structure and drape are both important.
