Linked Triple Crochet Stitch Tutorial

A Custom Variation of the Linked Crochet Stitch, with video tutorial

Linked triple crochet stitch, a custom variation of the linked crochet technique used to create a smooth, structured fabric.

In this project, I use a variation of the linked crochet stitch, which I refer to as a linked triple.
This stitch is based on the structure of a linked double crochet, but it is worked slightly differently to create a smoother fabric and improved stitch definition.

Once introduced, the stitch is referred to as linked triple throughout the tutorial for clarity and consistency.

Linked Triple Crochet (lttr) – Stitch Instructions

How to Work the Linked Triple Stitch

  1. Yarn over (yo) and pull up a loop in each of the two horizontal bars of the previous linked triple stitch
    (3 loops on the hook).
  2. Insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop.
  3. Yarn over and pull through two loops on the hook, three times.

The stitch is now complete.

Beginning a Row with the Linked Triple

At the beginning of the row:

  1. Chain 2, then turn your work as usual.
  2. Yarn over and pull up a loop in the second chain from the hook.
  3. Insert the hook into the next stitch (the first stitch you would normally work into after chaining and turning), yarn over, and pull up a loop.
  4. Complete the stitch by yarning over and pulling through two loops on the hook three times.

Continue across the row using the linked triple crochet stitch.

A short video presenting the linked triple crochet stitch, a unique twist on the linked crochet technique. This stitch produces a smoother fabric with enhanced stitch definition. Crochet vest without pattern instructions will be posted tomorrow—stay tuned for the next update.

Notes on the Stitch

  • This stitch creates a dense but smooth fabric with minimal gaps.
  • The linking technique reduces spaces between stitches compared to standard tall stitches.
  • The linked triple is well suited for garments where structure and drape are both important.

Final Note

This stitch tutorial serves as the foundation for the next project post, where the crochet vest instructions will be explained step by step using the linked triple crochet stitched.

This stitch is a custom variation created for this project and is not a standardized crochet term.
