where the journey begins
Stumbling upon a vintage compass while having a walk.

I set out through the city’s parks, where crisp air stirs fallen leaves underfoot. Tall, shadowy trees exhale oxygen, while flowers—thriving under the warm Greek autumn sun—sprinkle color among the park’s architecture. Slowly wandering downtown, the streets hum with life: second-hand shops, hidden thrift stores, modern malls, and quiet corners offering a warm drink or a comforting treat.

Still strolling, with homemade delicacies tucked into my backpack, I stumble upon a huge vintage compass, altered by city’s dust and aged by scratches tracing its tempered glass. Its golden surface catches the afternoon light, shimmering softly—a silent invitation to wander into the past or drift into imaginary worlds.

I am a woman in my forties, living in Greece, passionate about exploring ideas, places, and the paths life offers into arts and crafts. Moving from painting to experimenting with ancient materials like clay, or diving into any craft resonating with my spirit. Crocheting offers quiet contemplation—a way to create and repurpose. Jewelry-making, handmade beads and cabochons, exploring resin, a contemporary material, transforming nothing into objects, finally, I am at my desk crafting. Oh, I love this small window above it, with a view to trees and buildings covered with climbing greenery!

Wandering long city streets or quiet trails in nature, capturing the interaction through photography. Tending garden and balcony pots, cooking, experimenting with homemade skincare, reading, listening to music, immersing in museums, — What else would that be if not creative explorations?

Art journaling holds a special place in this journey. More than drawing on paper, it is a gentle path back to oneself, a quiet conversation with the inner guide, a space to explore imagination and return home.

This blog, Creative Explorations, gathers stories, photos, experiments, tutorials, and reflections—aiming to inspire artful discoveries of the self.

Books not to re-read, forgotten in the library:

  • Gesso and glue the pages together
  • Paint
  • Attach keepsakes collected in treasure boxes—labels, handwritten thoughts, old bills, dried flowers
  • Stitch papers into handmade notebooks
  • Wander into a bookstore to find a special notebook to fill with feelings and memories.

Each page telling a story, each story an experience.

Realizing the adventure to share, following the compass of emotions that points the way, to be wiser.
